The Janus stone / Elly Griffiths.
Archaeologist Ruth Galloway, expecting a baby, is called to investigate when construction workers find the bones of a child, missing its skull, beneath the doorway of an old house being demolished in Norwich, and although the house was once a children's home, it is discovered that the bones date to a time when the residence was privately owned, and that someone does not want the truth to be known.
